The Project developed in March of 2009 when I was writing a grant proposal for Projects for Peace funded by the Kathryn Davis Foundation. The goal was to provide sustainable resources to encourage literacy and provide an opportunity for Nepali youth to express their hopes and dreams through an educational and creative outlet. My initial idea was to establish both an art room for the school where children would have access to art materials and a library where children would get access to more than 3000 books.
I fortunately received the $10,000 grant decided to focus on the library and workshops with the children of that school to help them publish 3 books that would provide financial sustainability to the library. I published three binlingual books through the project.
My Happiness: A collection of the art produced by the children about what made them happy.
My Job: A collection of photographs and descriptions of real people and their jobs.
In Search of a New Clean Home: An illustrated book about a group of animals who learn about how pollution affects the environment.
